The first week of the Easter Holidays saw the 2015 Erin’s Own Schools Coaching Scheme Easter Camp. We didn’t have the best of weather but it didn’t seem to deter any of the camp attendees who ranged in age from five to twelve. We had a record number this year with final roll on the thursday morning counting 140 participants. The coaches and helpers did a great job again and they were Lorcan Finnegan, James O’Carroll. David Twomey, Heather O’Flaherty, Dan Irwin, Tim Pierce, Niamh O’Connell, Cliodhna Bowen, Cormac O’Connor and Aoife O’Connor.
It was four days of hurling/camogie and football practice, fun games and mini matches. The main event of the week was the football blitz on the thursday afternoon with 120 of the children playing in 14 different teams, all vying for bragging rights. The closing ceremony finished in the hall where each child got an easter egg and a cool red Ryan’s Supervalu boot bag. The positive feedback from children and parents proved what a great week it was. The camp was generously supported by Liam Ryan and Ryan’s Supervalu, Glanmire.
Happy Easter,
Niall McIntyre, Erin’s Own Schools Coach
