County Junior A Football Championship Semi Final Erins Own 1-11 Kilmacabea 0-10, 21/10/2017
Erins Own travelled to Brinny to play in this year’s county junior A football championship semi final against Kilmacabea, The weather conditions were shocking rain & a strong wind for the hour, Kilmacabea raced in to a three point lead in the first 10 minutes but this was to be the only three scores they would get in the first half, Eoghan Murphy open Erins Own’s scoring with goal to level the sides in the 11th minute & five minutes later he added a point to take the lead, both sides were playing some fine football despite the weather & in the 27th Tomas O Leary Kicked a fine point to take a lead at half time of 1-02 to 3 points, Kilmacbea as they did in the first half came out & got 3 points to win back the lead, Shane Murphy kicked 3 from frees , Tomas O Leary kicked another & Cian O Callaghan put one over & with 5 minutes to go the sides were again level, Then the score of the game came when Tomas O Leary kicked his third, an outstanding point & from that point Erins Own pulled away with Substitute Steven Lee Kicking 3 points to give Erins Own the win by 4 points, There was good football played all over the field Darren O Sullivan always found the middle of the field with his strong kick outs, Sean Kelly, Jack Sheehan & Patrick Fitzgerald always looked in control, Kieran Murphy as always played his heart out in controlling midfield, Andrew Power, Eoghan Murphy & Tomas O Leary played well upfront, Erins Own now march on to the county final against Knocknagree next weekend,
