v Sarsfield
An eagerly awaited contest as always with nearest rivals Sarsfield led to our first defeat in this years contest. A slow start by both teams saw a low half time score of 0-7 to 0-6 in favour of the home side. Some good passages of play was had by both sides but the contest did not live up to expectations. One of the best scores of the game came from keeper Shay Bowen from an 80 yard free, overall the home side deserved the win on the night on a scoreline of 1-17 to 0-14
v Ballinhassig
A good all round performance with the highlight being our Minor James O Carroll scoring 2-02 on his debut start as a senior hurler. We looked to be cruising and well in control at the interval on a score line of 2-12 – 0-05, but never came out of the blocks for the start of the second half and Ballinhassig scoring 2-03 without reply put a different outlook on the game, however the lads dug deep to hold on to a well deserved 7 point victory. Next opponents our nearest rivals Sars in Riverstown on Saturday 27th @ 6:30pm please support
v St Finbarrs
On Sunday 7th of April last we were up against St Finbarrs who always seem to get the upper hand on us in Togher, today proved to be different with a score line of 1-08 to 2-14 on a very cold and windy day. We always were on top from the start and the barrs were not helped by a sending off for a wild pull on captain Eoghan Murphy, it looked as if we were going to lose the captain at the break but perseverance prevailed and he continued to the end scoring 2-05. A good opportunity was also used by manager PJ to give some of our minors a taste of senior action. Next up Ballinhassig on Tuesday 23/04/2013 in Caherlag.
v Netwownshandrum
Another fine performance today on our first home game of the season V Newtownshandrum winning on a scoreline of 3-12 to 1-10. Best on the day Eoghan Murphy at centre forward with a personal tally of 2-8, Alan Bowen, Jack Sheehan and Shane Murphy also put in a good solid display. St Finbarrs are next oppononts next Sunday 7th in Togher @ 11:30.
v Midleton
Continuing on from the success of 2012, we began the 2013 campaign on a positive note with a win over Midleton on a scoreline of 2-14 to 2-10. Next outing at home v Newtownshandrum scheduled for Sunday 31st @ 2pm.
