Erin’s Own had an impressive win over Youghal, last Friday night in the semi-final of the East Cork U21 A Football Championship. Both teams played in last year’s final, when Youghal were the victors. Friday night was a different story with Erin’s Own putting in an outstanding firs half performance. An outstanding defence led by Cormac Dooley and Niall Scanlon held Youghal to only scoring 1 point in the first half. Up front, Darren Hayes and Cian O’Callaghan always looked dangerous in the Erin’s Own attack with O’Callaghan scoring 2-2. Erin’s Own Captain, Cathal O’Mahony had a superb game, as did Calvin O’Callaghan and Kieran Moynihan. Erin’s Own fielded some young players also, Barry Og Murphy, James O’Carroll, and the talented Sam Guillfoyle, who was very impressive. With a final scoreline of 3-10 to 0-2, this Erin’s Own squad must now be serious contenders to win the East Cork Championship.
